😍 The hottest new design tool

AI might not be coming for your job but it's already coming for your tools

Hello everyone 👋

I took a summer off from writing and professional social media.

I bet a lot of you took all kinds of breaks during this time too, and your inboxes are drowning in unread newsletters anyway (same as mine). But now it's time to get back to work!

Last time when I wrote about Figma Config, I shared my doubts about Figma's latest updates and what they meant for the future of our industry. While the latter still remains unclear, it seems like we're starting to see the first solid signals on where it might be heading.

A few weeks back, Andrew Karpathy (former director of AI at Tesla and co-founder of OpenAI) posted a vital tweet:

The hottest new programming language is English

It was a reference to how far AI can get you today in software development without writing too much code yourself—or any at all.

This statement is true for plenty of specializations, programming languages, and their applications, just one of them being front-end development. We're at the point where, using tools like Cursor, a recently trending coding editor, you can ridiculously quickly set up fully functional apps suited to your needs, built with your data and your components, all with natural language.

If you don’t believe me, I recommend you watching this video (which is another recent viral tweet) showing Mckay Wrigley building a live, data-connected financial dashboard in just a few minutes, all with natural language commands.

But what does it have to do with design tools?
